Going Out in Style

After almost four years the band the Dropkick Murphys have released their seventh album "Goin Out in Style".  The album is a concept album about a fictional character named Cornelius Larkin. The Album follows the life of Cornelius after his death. The album was released March 1, 2011. I picked it up very shortly after it was released. I have always been a fan of the band and I own most of their previous albums. The album itself is very good however it isn't what I was expecting. I was hoping for a breath of fresh air but I didn't get it. I was hoping the album would be a little different then their last. I found it to be the same old same old. Lead singer Al Bar has certainly backed off on his vocal load and I feel that he should have sung more on the record. Bassist Ken Casey sings  a lot more on this record which I am not sure I like. I do suggest that you give the album a listen. Maybe it will be just what you are looking for.

  1. I bought this album a few days after it was released and have only listened to it once (not because I didn't like it, but because I keep leaving it at home). I was very happy when I found it because it had been released a few days before and I found it in a Bull Moose for half the asking price. I would have to agree that this album sounds just like all of their other stuff, but that's what I like about it. I don't have a lot of music on my iPod that sounds like the Murphys so I think it's quite refreshing change form the tunes that I normally listen to.

  2. I have only given it one listen so far. I think maybe I can appreciate it more after another listen or two.
