Roper:2004

Roper is a band created by singer and musician Reese Roper. Reese Roper is mostly known for his position as lead vocalist in the band Five Iron Frenzy. Roper was only a band for a very short time and only released one album titled "Brace Your Self  For The Mediocre".  The album was released October 13, 2004 before the band was even fully formed. I had the privilege of seeing one of their performances. I really enjoyed it and I purchased their album. The album influenced me to start writing music and start taking music seriously. The album has a pop punk feel but has much more substance then most pop punk. Reese Roper is a Christian musician so the album is littered with his faithful lyrics. I highly recommend giving this music a listen especially if you enjoy a good laugh.

Going Out in Style

After almost four years the band the Dropkick Murphys have released their seventh album "Goin Out in Style".  The album is a concept album about a fictional character named Cornelius Larkin. The Album follows the life of Cornelius after his death. The album was released March 1, 2011. I picked it up very shortly after it was released. I have always been a fan of the band and I own most of their previous albums. The album itself is very good however it isn't what I was expecting. I was hoping for a breath of fresh air but I didn't get it. I was hoping the album would be a little different then their last. I found it to be the same old same old. Lead singer Al Bar has certainly backed off on his vocal load and I feel that he should have sung more on the record. Bassist Ken Casey sings  a lot more on this record which I am not sure I like. I do suggest that you give the album a listen. Maybe it will be just what you are looking for.

Sigh No More

Sigh No More is the debut album from the band Mumford and Sons. It was released on February 16, 2011 in the United Sates and on October 9, 2009 in the UK. Mumford Sons are an indie rock band from London. They had a performance at the grammies this year. The album has received positive reviews from almost everyone and has been successful in both the United States and the UK. It has won several awards. I enjoyed this album from the beginning of the first song to the last seconds of the last song. I usually listen to much heavier  genres of music but I also am very interested in bands like Mumford and Sons. This certainly is great album and I highly recommend that everyone go buy it.

Haste The Day: New Album/Calling it Quits

Attack of the Wolf King is the name of the fifth and final studio album written by the band Haste the Day. The new album features two new guitar players and a new drummer, leaving the bass player the only original member. I love the line up changes and I think that this is the band's best album yet. I love every song from start to finish. The three new members brought their A game and definatly made this album the best that it could be. Lots of fans and critics say that the band should have changed their name due to the drastic lineup changes. I strongly disagree. This is definatly the band's most talented lineup and most mature record. I have been a fan of Haste the Day since I first saw them in concert. I am sad that the band will be no more. The band states that there are many reasons for calling it quits but they do not list any one reason. I am thankful for all the things they did as a band. After ten years and five albums Haste the Day will be no more.
